"May there be many forests to grow people".

Sadhana Forest Slogan

Bobiri Forest

The 54 km² of Bobiri Forest and Butterfly Sanctuary is the only butterfly sanctuary in West Africa. Located on the main Accra - Kumasi highway near the village of Kubease, it hosts a wide variety of birds, over 400 species of butterflies and massive trees - its largest takes 24 people joining outstretched arms to encompass the tree. The rough track from the entrance to the forest to the visitor centre makes for wonderful birding in the semi-deciduous tropical rainforest. We worked hard to find some Black Dwarf Hornbills and Red-billed Helmetshrikes in the deep forest, while Johanna’s Sunbird showed fleetingly in the canopy of a flowering tree.

Red-billed Helmetshrike, Bobiri
