The best way to overcome the birding blues is to find new birds. This happened at Ngepi Camp near Bagani in the Caprivi. As I arrived at the reception I was greeted by a Black Crake, still needed for the year list. At the campsite I was swamped by Hartlaub’s Babblers, also a new tick for the year. The next morning, on my way to the Poopa Falls, I found two Meyer’s Parrots and a pair of Mourning Collared Doves. Trust nature to deliver a parting reality check; on my way out I found a sign reminding me that “You’re Not There Yet!”.
