“Not all those who wander are lost.” – J.R.R. Tolkien

I searched the red dunes of Bushmanland for about four hours before finding the Red Lark just before dusk. The sun was setting over the endless plains of rocks, bushes and sand, and I was contemplating a night on the Government’s farm – just pulling off the gravel road and pitching camp.

Sometimes God sends angels (I keep my guardian angel very fit and active); other times He sends people to bless us.

At one of the crossroads I met a farmer preparing food for his sheep, and so I ended up eating supper with Derek and Jorina van Zyl of the farm Uitkyk. They offered me a bed in their house, and I had to work hard to convince them that it would be more convenient for me just to sleep in Daai Dêng. The next morning they refused to let me depart without a hearty breakfast. May the Good Lord bless Derek and Jorina with lots of rain on the farm!
