Bird no 1500 for African Big Year

High in the mountains of Sao Tome a Sao Tome Speirops became my 1500th bird (using the IOC List) for my African Big Year. I celebrated by eating delicious lobster and having a few beers at Papa Figo restaurant in Sao Tome town. On the Clements list I still need 22 birds to make 1500 and comply with the ABA rules – so, still some work to do over the next two weeks! I have ticked 14 endemics in Sao Tome over the last two days and tomorrow will be flying to Principe Island for some very special birds.
